Hector Perera (Jnr) (1968 - 1970) was the Chief Guest at the College Colours Nite held on 29th July 2011 at Stanley Abeysekera Stadium.. Hector Perera (Jnr) following his father's footsteps Hector Perera (Snr), captained the 1st XI cricket team. Hector also Captained Tennis at College in 1968. He paid a glowing tribute to his team mates of 1970. He mentioned the names of Wendell Kellart (Vice Captain), Manik Des Wijeyeratne, Srilal Samarasekera, Rohan Fernando, Nimal Ranchigoda, Viji Johnpillai, Gehan Dalpethado, Anton Jayawardena, Rajive Benedict, Gary Melder, Dilantha Mendis, Rohan de S Wijeyeratne, Radley de Silva. who helped him to break a hoodoo of 14 years by winning the Joe - Pete. Fr. Rector in his address reiterated the importance of participation at the sports as a very essential part of holistic education. He urged parents to encourage & lead students to do sports. The certificates of Merit & Colours and awards of Sportsman of the year & Josephian Blue were given to the sportsmen who excelled in different games in 2008 to 2010. There were few entertainment items & Teachers, Old Josephians and Parents witnessed the show. |
